KAMManufaktur's 912C: a back-to-basics 911 which weighs just 699kg

It features a 168bhp air-cooled four-cylinder and a host of aero-focused mods, with prices starting at around £343,000

Published: 15 Dec 2023

Are you a Porsche fanatic who wants to retain the classic looks but keep the modern performance? Well, it’s good news! Budapest-based KAMManufaktur (KAMM) - yet another challenger to the likes of Singer and Theon Design - has released its most hardcore, bare-knuckle product yet with the 912c full-carbon edition.

When we say full-carbon, we really do mean it. Every single body panel has been replaced by in-house-built carbon fibre alternatives, and the result is… startling. The 912c tips the scales at just 699kg in its full road legal trim, which represents more than 300kg of weight loss over the original car. KAMM will also sell you a 750kg semi-carbon fibre version, which does take itself slightly less seriously but still manages to weigh less than both the Alfaholics GTA-R and MST Escort MK1.

Let’s talk technicalities, and straight off the bat we’ve got to mention the air-cooled four-cylinder engine which produces around 168bhp and 184lb ft of torque. It may not sound like much, but will you really need anything more spirited given the sub-700kg weight and near 50-50 distribution? No, we thought not.

Founder of KAMM, Miklos Kazmer, said: “I am a perfectionist and continuously seek innovative new ways to improve the 912c. Our new carbon fibre body is a great example of that, with perfect fit, incredible strength, and further weight saving.

“In addition, the 2024 912c will offer a range of enhancements to further enhance driving pleasure and give an even more rewarding ownership experience. We look forward to delivering the first client cars early into 2024 and will then show the world our new development car for evaluation later in the year.”

He certainly talks a good game, and if you’re finding yourself edging towards your seat in interest as a result, a 2024 full-carbon KAMM 912c is priced at an estimated £343,600 (€400,000). Alternatively, customers can donate their own 912 examples to bring the price down to around £310,000 (€360,000). This is also the same price as a semi-carbon 750kg version, which drops to £275,000 (€320,000) with a donor car included. We wonder if the ratty old Citroën Xsara in the Top Gear car park can be used to further sweeten the deal?
