How cool is this restomodded 1968 Mercury Cougar?
Ringbrothers does it again. This time with a 460bhp 5.0-litre Cougar
If you’ve seen their other stuff, you’ll know that Jim and Mike Ring don’t really do understated. Their restomod business Ringbrothers likes to make a splash – check out their 2019 SEMA builds for example.
Their latest build is different though. Jim describes it as “mild and classy” and we’d hardly disagree. It’s also ridiculously cool…
It is a restomodded 1968 Mercury Cougar that’s been given a fresh lick of lovely green paint and a re-trimmed interior, as well as new bumpers, a new grille and some new badges.
Oh, and there was the small matter of the complete frame-off restoration before all of that, and the plumbing in of Ford’s modern-day 5.0-litre Coyote V8 mated to the 10-speed automatic gearbox from an F-150 Raptor. And the fitting of a custom Flowmaster exhaust. Plenty of work, then.
The result is 460bhp that’s sent to the rear wheels, whilst new performance brakes help stop the thing and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres provide the grip. So, what do we think of Ringbrothers’ first attempt at a Cougar? Not bad is it?
