Good lord! The King’s immaculate old Defender smashed its auction estimate
A Defender once owned by King Charles III and kept in mint condition sold at auction for a princely £67,500
It was in mint condition, with less than 26,000 miles on the clock and a gorgeous ‘Keswick Green’ finish, but even so we're surprised to see that this 2010 Land Rover Defender just sold at auction for a hefty £67,500. Then again, it was once owned by King Charles III.
The royal Landie smashed its original £43k-50k estimate at the Iconic Auctioneers Classic Sale thanks to its former ownership (when Charles was just the Prince of Wales), and presumably because the 2.4-litre four-cylinder diesel engine has barely been run in.
Sadly, the '72 HRH' numberplate wasn't part of the deal, but the new owner gets to enjoy the royal delights that are heated front seats and erm... well, not much else really. Still, infinite bragging rights for the person driving the actual King's old Defender.
