The Ford Bronco Roadster is an ice-cool one-off with two seats and a manual ‘box

Simple will always be cool. Case in point, this ice-cool Ford Bronco Roadster concept. It’s a one-off built by Ford to honour the 1965 original, and in honouring that 1965 first-gen car, Ford has created the coolest version of the new sixth-gen.

It’s what Bronco chief designer Robert Gelardi calls a 2025 version of the Bronco’s “truest design philosophy”. A philosophy that strips everything back and adds much retro goodness. Sign us up immediately.

“We approached this as turning the 6G into an OG,” Gelardi said, “taking our current-generation Bronco and stripping it back to capture that same essence the original roadster possessed.”

As you can see, this too is a proper roadster – no folding roof malarkey here. The front and rear bumpers have been modified so that they more closely resemble the ’65 original. The interior’s been stripped back, featuring a pair of seats with wrap-over belts, and a rear bed built for practicality.

Yes, there’s a touchscreen, but there are also rotary dials and a manual gearbox. No, we don’t know what powers it, but we do know those machined wheels from Fifteen52 look superb. As does the retro ‘Ford’ badge on the tailgate.

“This concept is our reminder that we continue to hold Bronco’s original off-road mission in our goals,” said Gelardi. “Because sometimes, the most profound statement you can make is knowing exactly what to leave out.”

Sadly, Ford has kept this car’s production plans equally minimal. “Not intended for production,” is the simple line. Damn.
