Classified of the week: 'brand new' BMW 1M Coupe
This 1M has only covered 90 miles in its eight years. Someone please change that
Okay, okay, we know we’re playing with the definition of classified ad here, but we simply had to bring you this to brighten your day…
That’s because the (extremely bright) 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe you see above has just 90 miles on the clock and is set to go under the hammer, with an estimate of between £60,000 - £70,000, at the Classic Car Auctions sale in Leamington Spa this weekend.
Ninety miles! Someone please buy it and drive it.
A look back at the 1M also seems particularly poignant in the week that we brought you our first impressions of driving the new, front-wheel drive BMW 1 Series in the UK. The new hatch is a premium product and its wide appeal will surely make it a sales success – but the move away from RWD isn't half controversial.
The 1M possessed a twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six engine that sent 335bhp and 369lb ft of torque to the wide-arched rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Lovely. It was a proper little fighter too, and would hit 60mph from a standstill in 4.8secs.
When new, the 1M cost £40,000 – but only 450 were shipped here and the £60,000 minimum estimate for this one is a sign of how in-demand they now are. You’ll also have guessed from the mileage that this is a one-owner example that has been stored since its purchase.
Shouldn’t that be a criminal offence?
