Check out this all-electric Citroen 2CV van
Brit-built EV is apparently NOT a converted Fourgonnette from the 1950s, but is built ‘mostly from new components’
Back in July 2021 we brought you news of the 2cEv – an electrically powered Citroen 2CV built by the aptly named Wiltshire-based company The 2CV Shop. And now we have more news, for this is an all-new, all-electric 2CV van. Cute!
And when we say all-new, we do actually mean it. The folks over at The 2CV Shop say that this isn’t an original 2CV Fourgonnette that has been chopped up to make room for batteries and an electric motor – it’s actually built mostly from new components and is assembled in Wiltshire.
It’s called the Eive and each one will be bespoke built for the customer’s needs, but the essential specs are as follows. There’s a huge 26bhp motor with 89lb ft of torque for a top speed of 60mph, while a 10kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats provides a real-world range of around 60 miles.
Options include a longer-range battery for up to 125 miles of range, 32 choices of colours and fabrics for the interior, exterior paint in "almost any colour you can think of" and an adapter so you can use a Type 2 charger. As standard you’ll only get a three-pin plug.
There’s a choice of grilles, windows and wheels too, plus an option of uprated rear suspension if you’re planning on carrying heavy loads. You can even have heated seats. Prices kick off at £39,995 excluding VAT.
