Peugeot 207 SW news - All clear now? - 2007

Published: 05 Jun 2007

Like a giant, slow-motion game of Connect Four, the Peugeot 207 line-up is nearly complete.

Following the introduction of the CC, RCup and GTi (pay attention, you'll be tested on this later) comes this, the SW.

That's SW for Station Wagon, because it's the estate version of Peugeot's supermini that rounds off the 207 range.

Most excitingly, the SW sports a full-length panoramic glass roof (like the Citroen C4 Picasso, but smaller obviously), allowing you to gaze up at the stars above. Not while driving, though. That'd be dangerous.

It also gets something that Peugeot has cryptically dubbed 'an innovative rear-seat folding mechanism', which provides a perfectly flat rear loading area.

The 207 SW will be available with two petrol and two diesel engines, including an all-new 1.4-litre petrol option that develops a heady 95bhp thanks to some trick variable valve timing.

All engine options will be mated to a five-speed manual 'box.

Yes, it's all a bit sedate, but we applaud the Peugeot designers for at least refusing to garnish the SW in the infuriatingly modish tacky plastic body panels that seem to be everywhere at the moment. Couldn't they have done something about that demonic Hannibal Lecter smile, though?
