The Nissan Qashqai was the best-selling car in the UK in 2022

The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders has confirmed that the Nissan Qashqai was the best-selling car in the UK last year.

A total of 42,704 Qashqais were sold on our shores in the past 12 months, and it becomes the first British-built UK best-seller since the Mk4 Ford Fiesta in 1998.

Designed in Paddington, engineered in Cranfield and built in Sunderland, the third generation Qashqai taking the top spot also marks the first time that Nissan has had a UK best-seller.

‘‘This is a landmark moment for a landmark car and it’s great to see how the latest generation Qashqai has struck a chord with car buyers here in the UK," said boss of Nissan Motor (GB) Andrew Humberstone.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to see this car’s increasing success over the last 16 years, and it’s a fitting tribute to the skills and talents of Nissan’s excellent design, engineering, production and sales teams all around the UK.”
