New Vauxhall Maloo is as powerful as a 911 Turbo
VXR8-based pickup gets 528bhp s'charged V8, and you can even claim the tax back
Vauxhall has a new pickup. This would be news that lived nowhere near TG’s radar, were it not for the fact it has 528bhp. Which pegs it little short of the new 911 Turbo…
It is, of course, the mighty Maloo, refreshed with a new face and freshly supercharged, which ensures it’s over 100bhp more powerful than before. Yikes.
Its 6.2-litre V8 engine is essentially shared with the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, tuned here to produce that prodigious power figure, while there’s a mighty 495lb ft of torque to go with it.
The result is a 4.6sec sprint to 62mph, helped along by a launch control system should you select your Maloo with the standard manual gearbox.
Equally impressive, you may argue, is its 540kg loadbay, while if you plan to use it for commercial purposes - and you can guarantee TG’s business if you do - then you can claim the tax back on its £54,500 price tag.
Perfect for tradesmen who fancy themselves as drift gods, and perhaps an even quicker way for Santa to distribute presents than this science-approved sleigh…
