Stop everything: the stunt DB5 from No Time to Die is for sale
... along with the 1981 Aston V8, the jet boat from The World is Not Enough and more memorabilia than you could point a PPK at
Christie’s will hold a charity auction of 007 memorabilia to celebrate 60 years of James Bond in cinema, and one of the lots is the stunt DB5 from No Time to Die. And that’s about where one Top Gear writer went completely to pieces.
Because the stunt DB5 is a hand-built, carbon-fibre recreation of one of the greatest-looking cars of all time, just one with E46 M3 power, Ohlins dampers, a hydraulic handbrake and a history of standing up to some... unsympathetic treatment.
Somehow, Aston’s special operations team built this millimetre-perfect replica – and seven others – in just six months. But, given it’s a hand-built carbon-fibre Aston (and that this is the only one to ever go on sale), it’s perhaps unsurprising to find that Christie’s estimates bids as high as £2,000,000 before the hammer falls.
Of course, the stunt DB5 is just one part of an auction featuring everything from watches, suits and sunglasses to posters, signed scripts, and the actual cello case sled from the snow scene in The Living Daylights.
Speaking of Daylights, the auction also includes an ’81 Aston Martin V8. OK, so it’s the one from the ‘about as world-weary as the world felt by that point’ tome that was No Time to Die, but we suppose we can find other ways to cut through an icy lake.
No Time to Die vehicles feature almost exclusively, with an Aston DBS Superleggera, Land Rover Defender and Range Rover SVR, Jag XFS and Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE all up for grabs. With that said, you could buy the jet boat from The World is Not Enough. Should you take it for a spin, just try to bring it back in one piece...
