Video: turn it up loud and enjoy the 90s sound of a GTR on a charge
20 years ago McLaren won something called the BPR Global Endurance Series Championship with the F1 GTR. It was a sports-car racing series which eventually morphed into the FIA GT Championship, and played host to (and sometimes inspired the creation of) such cars as the Porsche 911 GT1 and Mercedes CLK GTR.
This rather excellent footage comes from the 5th round of the Championship, which was held at the Nurburgring GP circuit. Short but sweet, there’s footage from a foot-cam so you can see Dutchman Peter Kox’s perfect heel & toe downshifts, a bumper cam and an onboard. Then there’s the noise, which is justifiably voluminous.
Turn it up loud. Enjoy.
