Toyota will unveil a hardcore GR Yaris at the Tokyo Auto Salon
The beefed up hot hatch will be revealed alongside an all-new GT3 racer concept
Big news ahead of Friday’s Tokyo Auto Salon – Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division is set to unveil a hardcore, bewinged GR Yaris that it describes as ‘fully tuned’.
Details are limited so far and the only image available is that teasing silhouette above, but a hotter looking GR Yaris has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring in recent months, so it’s unlikely that this will just be a static concept. Looks like it’ll have a fairly hefty rear wing and bonnet scoop too.

That won’t be the only new bit of metal on Toyota’s stand, though. It’s also planning on revealing a ‘GR GT3 Concept’ that doesn’t seem to be based on any of Toyota’s current road cars. Interesting.
Toyota describes it as a “racing-dedicated concept car that incorporates the knowledge and refined technologies TGR has gained in the field of motorsports”.
Exciting.
