See the first official pictures from ‘Rush’

Published: 13 Aug 2012

Late next year, you will be treated to a big screen adaptation of an epic Formula One rivalry that captivated millions some 26 years ago.

It is of course, the film version of the 1976 F1 season when James Hunt challenged Niki Lauda for the title. And you will be in for a treat, because its got some proper heavyweight Hollywood muscle behind it.

Ron Howard is directing - he who did A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, and Frost/Nixon - alongside screenwriter Peter Morgan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Queen, The Damned United). Thor himself will take the place of James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth), while Lauda will be played by the rather excellent Daniel Brühl (seen in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds). It's also produced by Working Title, whom you might remember did a little film called Senna.

We have of course, shown you a few snaps from filming at the Nürburgring, as well as giving you some behind-the-scenes info from when we spoke to Hemsworth on set. Now, there are some official pictures. It's slated for a 20 September 2013 release in the US, so expect it over here a short while after.

Excited?
