Please buy this supremely cool Peugeot 806 Procar
Need an MPV but not quite ready to give up on life? Here’s your answer
Well, we certainly didn’t expect to get all giddy over a Peugeot 806 today. And yet, here we are…
Clearly though, this is no normal 806. Not one bit.
This bonkers thing was born back in 1995, when Belgian racer Pascal Witmeur decided that what the Spa 24 Hours was really missing was a bit of MPV action. After all, the Espace F1 couldn’t make these things cool all on its own, could it?
Although whereas the F1-engined Renault only managed a few demo runs, this stripped-out 806 genuinely did race at the day-long Spa event. It even qualified 12th out of 46 runners for goodness sake.
Sadly, engine issues forced it to retire on that day 25 years ago, but it’s still a glorious thing. Apparently, most of the racey parts were sourced from the 306 Maxi and the 406 Supertourisme of the era. The engine was a 2.0-litre unit and different reports quote between 260 and 300bhp. Crikey.
Oh, and did we mention that it’s currently for sale? Yep, Belgian company Gipimotor has listed this among its race cars up for grabs. It’s price on application only though – so who knows how much this thing would set you back. Any guesses, Internet?
