NASCAR drivers will now have to wear fireproof pants
Liar liar, but at least your pants can no longer catch fire. Underwear and socks must now be flame resistant, says NASCAR
NASCAR drivers will be required to wear fire resistant underwear and socks from the 2023 season onwards, after the governing body updated its safety rules. Sounds like a very wise decision if you ask us.
Previously NASCAR had listed fireproof pants and socks as ‘recommended’ rather than ‘required’, and the same went for the balaclavas that drivers wear under their helmets. Apparently Americans refer to those as ‘head socks’ – they’ll also have to be fire resistant in the upcoming season.
We’re not quite sure whose job it will be to check what pants the drivers are wearing, but at least the Internet saw the funny side…
