McLren’s MP4-12C news - McLaren MP4-12C configurator

Published: 01 Apr 2010

Configurating. Configurising? Configging? Whatever it's called, we love to do it: speccing supercars online with dubious colour schemes, clashing wheel choices and lurid leather.

Which is why we're delighted to point you in the direction of the online configurator for the MP4-12C, McLaren's soonish-to-arrive Ferrari 458 rival and long-awaited successor to the F1.

At this point, we'd normally challenge you to devise the most disgusting concotion possible (remember our hideous yellow-and-orange Bugatti Grand Sport?), but that's a bit tricky with the MP4-12C. With typical McLaren reserve, there's a notable absence of garish paint options and a decided lack of luminous leather. Pink-and-matte-black supercars aren't Big Ron's thing, we fear.

Which means - shock horror - you'll have to make a good-looking car instead. We're loving the orange-flecked ‘Fire Black' paintjob with optional carbon fibre everything, but we'd love to see how yours turns out.

You can also take a look at exactly how Messrs Button and Hamilton chose to spec their theoretical 458s (black and red respectively, to save you the bother).

Well, with his Merc C63 doing time in a seedy Melbourne jail, Lewis must be on the lookout for a new set of wheels...
