Listen to a twin-engined rotary tractor scream

This is what happens when Old MacDonald wants his tractor to sound like a Le Mans car

Published: 01 Feb 2016

May we humbly present to you, the 'Rotary Hoe'. It has been built by a man called Bob Blackwell, who has taken the world of rotary into unknown territory.

Bob’s modified tractor is fitted with not one, but two Mazda 13b rotary engines producing a combined 600bhp.

Though, there's not much torque. A bit of an issue, considering the tractor is used to pull a heavy sled along a 35-foot wide, 330-foot long track in an odd form of motorsport called 'Tractor Pulling'.

The aim of the game is to pull a heavy, geared sled – one that builds resistance the further it goes – to try and complete the 100m dash. We’re not really sure why, but we also don’t really care when it sounds this good.

With two 12-foot Bosozuko style chimneystack exhausts and minimal torque, Bob has to rev it to high heaven to get the sled to move. As you’ll hear, this is quite a treat for the ears.

Now, who thinks this is a perfect ride and the perfect motorsport for Mad Mike Whiddett to get into once he’s done with all that drifting? We sure do.
