Lamborghini Super Trofeo news - White noise - 2008
This is the Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Looks mean, eh? Now imagine 30 of them, battling it out around on circuit: 300 cylinders and some 17,000bhp of Italian bovine fury going head to head on Europe’s greatest racetracks.
Yes, Lamborghini is planning a one-make race series for its competition-spec Gallardo LP560-4, set to kick off at Silverstone next May before heading to Italy, Germany, Belgium and Spain, finishing up at Monza in October.
(You may have noticed we like a fiddled with Lambo round here.)
You’ll have to cough up around 200,000 Euros to be part of the on-track action, though. For your cash, you get a seriously angry track-only Gallardo, complete with roll cage, racing brakes, slick tyres, a new aero kit… oh, and a 570bhp V10 mounted midships, of course.
To sweeten the deal, the race organisers plan to set up an ultra-luxury ‘Lamborghini Village’ at every event, presumably complete with ‘Lamborghini Corner Shop’, ‘Lamborghini Bus Stop’ and ‘Lamborghini Village Idiot’.
Lamborghini will also help out Super Trofeo race teams with trackside support and parts sales, though prospective privateers might be less impressed to hear that a Lambo-sponsored ‘celebrity driver’ will make an on-track appearance at every race.
Grapevine gossip regarding a guest appearance by one Sir Stiggington of Top Gear could be neither confirmed nor denied, as we just started that rumour here.
Ooh, and this is only sort of related, but worth a watch:
