Lamborghini Super Trofeo news - Lambo race series - 2008
Following Lamborghini’s announcement on Monday of a one-make ‘Super Trofeo’ Gallardo race series, we thought you might like a quick look at one of the race-spec Lambos out on the track.
Oh, and very much yes. How evil is that? Once again, multiply that by 30, chuck in a handful of beautiful pit lane lovelies, and you’ve got the recipe for a very nice Sunday afternoon.
We’ve got a few more details on the Super Trofeo racer, too. It weighs in at 1300kg – some 200kg lighter than the road car, thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre, polycarbonate, and lightweight race seats.
The Super Trofeo puts out 10bhp more than the road car, courtesy of revised engine management and a new lightweight race exhaust. Running on full slicks, we’d guess that means performance in the very, very low threes for the 0-60mph run. Maybe even lower.
In fact, Lamborghini is touting the Super Trofeo as the fastest one-make race series in the world. Faster than the Ferrari F430 Challenge. Faster than the Porsche Carrera Cup.
Fast enough to have us seriously considering putting Fortress Top Gear on the market to afford the 200,000 Euro up-front cost. Any potential buyers?
