Indy 200 news - Video: Brit’s Indy 500 crash - 2010
Dario Franchitti won this weekend's Indy 500, the Scot's second victory in the race billed as ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing'.
But it was the monstrous crash involving Britain's Mike Conway that's got the TopGear office talking. If you thought Webber vs Vettel (or maybe Vettel vs Webber) was spectacular, wait until you've had a look at this.
Here's the back story. On the final lap, Ryan Hunter-Reay (in the red-and-white Dallara) is slowing to conserve fuel. Conway, in the blue-and-yellow Dallara-Honda, is not slowing. In fact, he is going very quickly.
This is what is known in the catering industry as a recipe for disaster.
Astonishingly, Conway's injuries were limited to a broken leg and a compression fracture to his back. He will be sidelined for three months, but is not expected to suffer any lasting damage.
Tough lad.
