Got a tendency to make impulse purchases? Definitely don’t click here

It’s not often you see a group of rally legends like this pictured together, and even less often that they all come up for sale at the same time. That makes this bunch – which are all set to be sold at Silverstone Auctions’ NEC Classic sale in November – really rather special indeed.
Click through this gallery to find out more about the five lots – although maybe it’s worth putting that credit card away first. Catastrophic financial decisions could otherwise be made.

Kicking things off is this brilliantly bonkers ex-works 1986 MG Metro 6R4, complete with that iconic blue and white Computervision livery. What a thing.
The 6R4 was developed with the help of Williams Engineering and works cars featured a 410bhp 3.0-litre V6 as well as four-wheel drive and carbon Kevlar body panels for a 0-60mph time of just three seconds. Rapid.

It was also ridiculously reliable and this one never failed to finish a rally. Plus, it had a full mechanical refurb in 2004, but the battle-scarred exterior was left. Great decision.
DAM4100
This DAM4100 was based on a Clubman version of the Metro 6R4 – essentially one of the 200 chassis’ that were built for homologation purposes. What do we think of the looks?
Built by former 6R4 drivers Tony Pond and David Appleby in the mid-1990s, the 4100 was supposed to fix the twitchy tendencies of the 6R4.

Renault 5 Turbo Superproduction
In the mid-1980s, Renault decided that it absolutely had to win the 'Production' class of the French Supertourisme Championship. It allocated six new R5 Turbos for the touring car cause.

The 1.4-litre engine was turbocharged and fitted with titanium internals for a total of 410bhp delivered to the rear wheels.
Renault 5 Turbo Group 4
Before that circuit racing assault, Renault introduced the 5 Turbo Group 4 rally car. Its 1.4-litre turbo four-cylinder sent 270bhp to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.
There’s more pedigree with this one too. It came fourth overall at the 1984 Rallye Monte-Carlo and won the 1982 French Rally Championship. That’s something we’d like to own.
Renault 5 Maxi Turbo
Last but certainly not least is this – the only genuine ex-works Maxi Turbo in the UK. Woof.
The Group B Maxi made well over 350bhp despite only weighing 905kg. It had a larger engine, re-worked suspension, different steering and wider wheels than the standard Turbo.
Only 20 were made too, and eight of those were then stripped for parts, so this thing is properly rare.
How much do we reckon they’ll all make at auction next month?
