Ferrari's new 488 GTE racer is now even more red
Ferrari's WEC challenger gets a shakedown ahead of race debut
Big news out of Maranello. For this year’s World Endurance Championship, Ferrari has painted its rather fetching 488 GTE a DEEPER SHADE OF RED. Naturally, we at Top Gear appreciate the incredibly important and serious nature of this news. Which is why we’re publishing all these lovely photos of it, plainly. Any excuse etc…
Now in its third year in the WEC, the GTE has won Ferrari two world championships and no fewer than 11 races. Just last year it helped Ferrari claimed driver and manufacturer honours in the GTE Pro category, beating the Ford GT, all the Astons, 911s and so on. The 2018 car will race at Paul Ricard next weekend, which Ferrari says it’s using as a shakedown ahead of the Spa 6hrs in May and, eventually, the Le Mans 24hrs in June.
Looking forward to hearing that fine Italian V8 bombing down the Mulsanne?
