Fancy buying James Hunt’s F1 car?
This is the actual Hesketh that F1 hero, James Hunt, won his first ever Grand Prix in. And we want it very, very much.
Chassis 308/2 is the only F1 race-winning Hesketh ever, charging to victory under James’ stewardship at the 1975 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, Holland. It started 23 other Grand Prix races between 1974 and 1978, 17 of which were driven by Hunt.
The Hesketh’s got another claim to fame – it’s the last privately entered car to win a F1 race without commercial sponsorship. Which is nice.
Wearing its original red and blue livery, the 3-litre V8’s just been rebuilt and is ready to race. Worried about crashing? No bother, the highest bidder gets a raft of spares, including Hunt’s own custom-made steering wheel.
How much? An estimated £475,000.
The auction’s taking place during the Silverstone Classic weekend on July 21, 22, and 23. Click here for more info.
