DeltaWing coupe debuts in the USA

They made it go round corners. They raced it at Le Mans. They even let us build a replica. But now, the DeltaWing team's given it a striking new hat...

Meet the DeltaWing coupe, which was unveiled at Sebring ahead of the car's return to the track after its debut at last year's Le Mans 24 Hours. It's built on a bespoke monocoque developed at DeltaWing Racing Cars owner Don Panoz's Elan Motorsports Technologies facility, and it'll replace the Aston Martin AMR-One tub underpinning the original car.

The new coupe's hitting the track at round three of the American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca in May, and it'll be the first competitive outing any DeltaWing's had since Nissan withdrew from the project. American Le Mans Series founder and current owner, Panoz, has replaced its 1.6-litre Juke-based turbo engine with a new 2.0-litre engine roughly based on a Mazda unit.
