3,000bhp Vauxhall dragster launched

Published: 12 Aug 2010

If you're the type of gentleman who enjoys rootin', hootin' and indeed tootin', you will be enamoured by this - a 3,000bhp Vauxhall dragster.

Yes, put that barbequed Spam-burger down, friend, because this is the fastest Vauxhall in the world.

Based on a 1967 Vauxhall Victor FD, this street-legal beasty is called the ‘Red Victor 3' and packs an 8.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from the GM stable, churning out more than 3,000bhp.

It's still in development mind, a collaboration between Vauxhall's VXR team and Red Victor, created by Andy Frost. They both reckon when it's finished, the dragster will be able to hit the all-important quarter mile in just 6.5 seconds and rock on to a top speed of 240mph.

Their previous attempt, cannily titled ‘Red Victor 2', hit 153mph from rest in just 4.8 seconds and was pushing 200mph at the quarter mile mark, so credentials are in abundance.

Tear yourself away from decorating your front room with expired licence plates, and get yourself down to Silverstone between 28-29 August, where the Red Victor 3 will make an appearance at the VXR Power Festival.
