You can now have your everyday Mercedes C300 tuned by Brabus
Four-cylinder petrol and diesel C-Classes gets the Brabus treatment. Please don’t
Bought yourself a Mercedes C300 or C300d and now regretting not stumping up the extra cash for the AMG C43? Well, there’s not much we can do about that, sorry.
Luckily Brabus has come to your aid, because in a break from building 900bhp G-Wagens and 205mph AMG GT 4drs, it has turned its attention to the bog-standard C-Class…
Yep, there are now Bottrop-based options for the 2.0-litre four-pot Merc saloons. Can somebody check on Brabus to make sure they’re okay?
With a new ECU module for both powertrains, the C300 jumps from 254bhp as standard to 296bhp. The diesel rises from 261bhp to 306bhp, with torque up to a hefty 443lb ft. Brabus reckons the changes allow for 0-62mph times of 5.8 seconds in the petrol and 5.6 seconds in the diesel. Worth remembering that the C43 (the baby AMG) has 402bhp from a 2.0-litre four-pot these days though and manages the same sprint in 4.6 seconds.
Still, Brabus will add a couple of aero bits to entice you, including a small rear lip spoiler and a new front bumper addition with little winglets at each end. There are added LEDs in the front air intakes too, plus new quad exhaust tips that connect to the standard production-spec pipe. Worth mentioning there are also different wheels with sizes between 18- and 20-inches, but you can only go up as high as 19-inches if you want the estate. And you do want the estate.
Sports springs drop the C300s by between 20 and 30mm depending on what spec you went for from the factory, and you can even transform your interior with aluminium pedals, Brabus floor mats and lashings of leather or Alcantara.
What do we think folks? Is Brabus better sticking to the other end of the Merc-AMG scale?
