Want to ruin your Ferrari 296? This widebody kit should do the trick
Zacoe’s new ‘296 GTZ’ is a carbon kit that’s apparently inspired by the 250 LM
When penning the 296 GTB, Ferrari’s chief design officer Flavio Manzoni used the lovely little 250 LM from the 1960s for inspiration, with the link between the two cars most obvious in the air intakes that sit high and up ahead of the rear wheel arch.
Now though, tuner ZACOE Performance reckons it has plumbed in even more 250 LM references with its ‘296 GTZ’ carbon widebody kit. Right. Erm, where are we meant to be looking for those references?
We’re told GTZ stands for ‘Gran Turismo di ZACOE’ here, and the tuner hasn’t actually released much information. So, we’re in a bit of a Catchphrase ‘say what you see’ situation here, and what we’re seeing is huge slabs of carbon fibre glued onto the side of a 296 GTB.
If we’re honest, we do rather like the little ducktail spoiler extension, but the many flicks and fins up front aren’t exactly emulating the 250 LM, and the less said about those aftermarket wheels the better.
There’s no word on how much this widebody kit costs, but ZACOE does still refer to this as its ‘design prototype’, so perhaps we’ll see a few changes before the production kit arrives. Yeah, back to the drawing board on this one, we reckon.
