Venom GT: first blood

Published: 14 Jun 2010

Remember that little supercar with a heart of darkness we showed you a couple of months back?

Well it's ready - the first production Venom GT has just broken cover and we've got the official images.

The first Venom GT - chassis number 01 - is headed to the UAE to its new owner. Who we presume has a lot of wonga and is not afraid of a) spending it, and b) death.

This is entirely because the Venom GT built for said MoneyBags packs the full-fat 1,200bhp, thanks in part to a twin-turbocharged 6.2-litre aloominum Chevy V8, and some dark matter from the depths of the universe.

This particular Venom also produces 1,135 torques, all of which will happily show you the door to the afterlife via a powerslidey-firey-death slalom. 0-62mph takes around 2.9 seconds and the GT is geared for 260mph.

The GT uses a Lotus Elise as a base car, with a new front and rear space frame and suspension housed underneath a new carbon fibre body.
