Pogea Racing’s McLaren ‘666S’ is devilishly fast
German tuner's 570S does 0-62mph in less than three seconds
McLaren’s entry-level supercar, the 570S, does 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and tops out at 204mph. It is emphatically Not Slow, but apparently there are power-hungry folks out there who want MORE (but for some reason cannot be bothered to do the obvious thing and save up for the far superior 720S).
Pogea Racing is one of many tuners selling bits for the 570S. The German company’s kit costs €11,000 and includes special 20-inch alloy wheels shod with Michelin rubber, KW coilover suspension, an ECU tweak and shouty exhaust. Plus ca change. The result is 666 German horsepower, or 657bhp, 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds and a 207mph top speed. Good numbers, but we challenge you and your finely calibrated bottom to feel the difference.
If not from a standing start, your bottom may be able to spot the difference on the move, though. Pogea’s fiddling has liberated an extra 143lb ft from the 570’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine. The tuner claims the 666S accelerates from 62mph to 124mph in just five seconds. From 0 to 124mph it’s 1.6 seconds quicker than standard.
