Opel’s Special Vehicles division has modified a Zafira
Prepare yourselves, it’s the A-Team inspired Zafira Life
Feast your eyes on the above. What you see here is a Zafira Life that has been given a slightly tenuous link to the A-Team with some modifications by Opel’s Special Vehicles division.
In other news, Opel has a Special Vehicles division. Who knew?
To give it its official name, this is the O-Team Zafira Life. “The O, of course, stands for Opel,” the press release helpfully points out. Thanks guys, that would have stumped us.
You may be thinking that with its navy, white and neon yellow paint it doesn’t look anything like the original GMC Vandura that Mr. T and co thrashed in the 1980s TV show. And if you were thinking that… you’re probably correct.
Still, that hasn’t stopped Opel going all-in with the modifications. There’s that fantastically useless rear wing, lowered bodywork all round, a hefty-looking bumper guard and air suspension. In fact, if you forget the A-Team links it’s a fun looking thing. There’s even BBS wheels and sticky Michelin Cup 2 tyres.
Not that those tyres will have too much power to cope with. The O-Team Zafira sticks with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that puts 177bhp and 295lb ft of torque through the front wheels – although a V8 soundtrack will be pumped through the speakers in order to fool precisely 0 people.
Inside there are six seats, the front two of which are pulled straight from the Insignia GSi and look particularly supportive, as well as an upgraded sound system and plenty of neon yellow stitching.
At the moment it’s just a one-off, but Opel says that all of the upgrades have been approved by the TÜV in Germany, so we could see something similar on the roads soon. Would you?
