This modified ‘Silver Surfer’ Range Rover looks like a comic book SUV

Meet 1016 Industries’ latest: a widebody Rangie riding on *26in* wheels

Published: 13 Sep 2023

“The Range Rover is a difficult vehicle to modify with good taste,” explains 1016 Industries boss Peter Northrop. And ne’er a truer word was spoken. Without comment, therefore, may we humbly present his company’s latest offering: the Silver Surfer.

Named after a comic book character and fronting a silhouette straight out of a comic book spread comes this widebody Rangie riding on – BOOM! – 26in alloy wheels.

Twenty. Six. Inches. Any bigger and they’d need their own postal code. But then, they’re nestled inside a “striking” new ‘Vogue’ bodykit. 1016 tells us this bodykit – aerodynamically tested, of course – “amplifies the existing bold contours of the Range Rover’s body”. It certainly does that.

1016’s comic book hero features a new front lip and bumper insert, wider, more aggressive side skirts and a lower rear treatment seemingly adapted from a space shuttle. Also a roof spoiler joins in the fray. KAZAM!

The arches too, appear to have ingested super soldier serum, which in turn makes those dish-like alloys… yeah, they’re still bloody enormous. Shiny, though.

As is the lower half of 1016’s new Rangie. That’s chiefly because it’s been wrapped in a ‘stunning’ satin silver aluminium-style finish. The full kit is available on all sizes of new Range Rover, in either paintable FRP ($28,500), twill carbon fibre ($35,000) or forged carbon fibre ($40,000).

Whether it’s in good taste is up to you…
