Meet Hamann's tuned BMW M2

Hamann ups power, torque and adds blue wheels to our favourite little BMW

Published: 14 Nov 2016

German tuners don’t do subtle, which is why we’re surprised Hamann’s BMW M2 isn’t more lairy. Yes there’s more power and torque, but not much, and yes there’s a body-kit, but it’s all very restrained. The last time we saw a tuned M2, it was gold and had over 600bhp. This M2 is neither of those things.

Hamann’s power hike – the result of optimised ignition mapping – takes the M2 from 370 to 420bhp, making it roughly as powerful as the old V8 E92 M3. Regardless of gearbox the tuner claims 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, a 0.3 second improvement over the sought-after standard car. Torque is up by 48lb ft up to 391lb ft.

Cosmetic upgrades include new bumpers and sills with carbon inserts, and there’s an especially tasty-sounding sports exhaust on offer too – the effects of which you can witness in the video at the end of the above gallery. And don’t worry, you don’t have to have the wheels done in blue.
