The Manhart MH4 GTR II is a 692bhp modified BMW M4 CSL

Just 1,000 examples of the BMW M4 CSL will be built in total, but that hasn’t stopped German tuner Manhart from getting hold of one and putting it through the standard 2020s modification mill.

That means the headline is MORE POWER, with the CSL’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six boosted from the standard 542bhp to a much more sufficient 692bhp. Yikes. Oh, and there’s now 649lb ft of torque too, all thanks to a new ECU and a free-flowing stainless steel exhaust system.

We’re not told what impact those new figures have on the performance of the M4 CSL, but the ‘standard’ car was hardly slow in the first place and the engine hasn’t actually been our main source of criticism for the special edition. 

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem as though Manhart has stripped out any more of the 1,625kg kerbweight. In fact, it’s probably added to it slightly with the striking new bodykit and the many many winglets. 

We’re told that the brakes can be upgraded on the customer’s request, but this particular example is running the standard CSL setup. There are new 20-inch forged wheels though, plus new height-adjustable coil springs from the suspension wizards at H&R.

The whole creation is known as the Manhart MH4 GTR II, and inside there are Manhart-branded floor mats (WHERE DO WE SIGN?) and four-point racing harnesses attached to a new Clubsport roll cage. We’re also told that the MH4 comes with a matching helmet made from – you guessed it – carbon fibre.
