This mad 900bhp pick-up truck is up for sale
0-60mph? 1.3 seconds. For the price of a Focus RS you could have the fastest truck in the UK
This is a truck. It is a fast truck. It is coming up for auction, and you might want to pay attention because it is fast. Very, very fast. 0-60mph in 1.3 seconds fast.
It’s a road-legal, 1984 Chevy S10 packing 640bhp from a naturally aspirated 7.0-litre V8. Though, because this truck lives its life a quarter mile at a time, there is also nitrous oxide which boosts it up to that P1-rivalling 900bhp.
In fact, it does actually live its life a quarter mile at a time. It is able to run the benchmark drag race in eight seconds flat, having spent many, many years doing incredible things at Santa Pod raceway (read: it’s been thrashed to hell and back).
There’s also the small matter of it being capable of 0-124mph in 5.6 seconds, and a top speed of over 150mph. FROM A TRUCK. Yikes.
As expected, there is a full roll cage, and such novel features as heating and electric windows. The current owner has been in charge of this 900bhp drag-racing mad-machine for the past 24 years, and in that time has racked up £85,000 worth of work. It’s even got a full MOT, valid until November this year. Which means of course, it’s fully road legal. It even runs on normal petrol, not, y’know, dynamite.
However, those exorbitant bills are not a reflection of the price. The price, dear reader, when it comes up for auction in April at the CCA sale in Birmingham, is expected to be between £30,000 and £35,000.
So for the price of a Ford Focus RS, you could have a machine that works really, really well in a straight line. Just exercise caution on wet roundabouts...
