This is a Litchfield-tuned Alpine A110
British tuner adds power to TG’s reigning performance car of the year
Even with a relatively meagre 249bhp from its 1.8-litre turbocharged engine, the Alpine A110 is not slow. Mainly, we suspect, because it weighs just 1,103kg. It will hit 62mph in around 4.5 seconds (we managed 0-60mph in 4.62 seconds), and that’s not bad at all.
But TG law says more speed is almost always better. So, enter the Litchfield Alpine A110. Thanks to an ECU upgrade, it makes 296bhp and 290lb ft, increases of 47bhp and 54lb ft over standard. Litchfield says the tune, which costs £995 and requires no physical modifications, is “individually calibrated to each customer’s car”, and isn’t just about outright power. The fully reversible tune also “ensures that low speed behaviour and partial throttle performance is smooth, progressive and ‘OEM+’ in its delivery” it says.
Litchfield hasn’t released any performance figures for its tuned Alpine, but a sub-4 second 0-62mph time must surely be within its grasp. If that’s still not fast enough for you, though, the tuner’s forthcoming ‘Stage 2’ upgrade adds a bespoke exhaust and high-flow sports catalyst for 315bhp. And more noise, obviously.
We’ll have a go soon. In the meantime, click here to see how the standard car fares against the more powerful Porsche Cayman S.
