The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato is heading for production

Lamborghini is about to launch the perfect supercar for the modern world. A supercar that’s comfortable, able to deal with a potholed road network or accelerate fast enough to create entirely new ones.

We’re reading between the lines here, but the wild Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato appears to be heading for production. Principally because Sant’Agata has just released a new teaser video showcasing a prototype Sterrato doing brilliant skids, and it’s been three years since we last heard of it.

Yeah, it’s tenuous. But it’s also Thursday so just run with it. Should the production version mirror the gloriously orange one-off Sterrato concept from 2019, it’ll be a Huracán Evo underneath, complete with the standard 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 and a very unnaturally sounding 630bhp, and all-wheel-drive.

Where the concept departed from the standard car – sideways onto a dirt track, presumably – was in the suspension. Lamborghini raised the ride height by 47mm, in the process improving ground clearance and approach/departure angles. The dampers and suspension geometry were tweaked, a set of balloon tyres slotted on, and new front wings to accommodate the 30mm shift in front axle.

There was more aero, a rollcage, comfier seats, aluminium flooring and… heck, it’s an off-road supercar with a massive V10. Price, build numbers, delivery… these are all prudent questions we have no answer to. We just hope Lamborghini is serious on building this thing.
