Hennessey is building a 1,012bhp seven-seat Ram TRX

The Texan tuner is building a custom SUV version of Ram’s wild pickup truck

Published: 27 Apr 2021

As you might be able to tell by the name, nothing about the new Hennessey Mammoth 1000 SUV is small.

Based on the already giant Ram TRX, Hennessey’s latest creation is a seven-seat monster SUV with an additional ‘Mammoth Off Road package’ that adds a 2.5-inch lift kit, a custom front bumper with an integrated lightbar, 20-inch wheels, 35-inch off-road tyres and a front suspension levelling kit. That’s on top of the new bodywork with its extended roofline and the third row of seating. Huge.

This is John Hennessey we’re talking about here too, so obviously the TRX’s supercharged 6.2-litre Hemi V8 hasn’t been left as standard. An upgraded supercharger and an ECU remap means there’s now 1,012bhp and 969lb ft of torque. Good grief.

There are a couple of small numbers in the press pack, to be fair. The Mammoth will now do 0-60mph in a ridiculous 3.2 seconds and just 20 will be sold worldwide. Shame the price isn’t quite as tiny – it’ll set you back $375,000 before taxes. Yikes.
