Hamann Porsche 911 Turbo news - Turbohdear - 2008

Published: 25 Jun 2008

We may have a new top scorer on Top Gear's 'Aftermarket Tuning Job Checklist'. This is the German tuner Hamann's take on the 911 Turbo, and it truly does tick all the boxes.

Daft, faintly homoerotic name? Check. The Stallion, no less.

Absurd power hike? Check. Hamann reckons it has squeezed a massive 630bhp out of the Turbo's 3.6-litre flat six - a 150bhp boost thanks to bigger variable nozzle turbochargers and an ECU remap. It cuts the Turbo's 0-60mph time from a tardy 3.9 seconds to 3.3 seconds - yes, even quicker than the GT2.

Spurious bodywork mods? Check. The Turbo's roof has been chopped by eight centimetres and sprouted an air intake, while there's the obligatory aero bodykit all round. And some monster 20-inch rims for good measure.

Tasteless interior? Check. A worrying yellow-on-brown leather combo that strangely reminds us of those Fruit Salad sweets from years back. Oh, and Lambo-style scissor doors for good measure.

Eye-watering price tag? Most probably. There's no word on how much Hamann will charge you for doing Bad Things to your Turbo, but assume it won't be cheap.
