BMW M5 news - Currency conversion - 2007
The German saloon power-modding war has gone global.
Having watched Brabus and its European rivals squeezing increasingly ridiculous horses out of Beemers and Mercs, Los Angeles tuning firm Currency has set to work on a BMW M5.
Fitting a turbocharger to the 5.0-litre V10 has helped Currency unleash 810bhp and up top speed to 240mph, while acceleration now sees 60mph passed in 3.6 seconds.
The company describes the car as a 'super sleeper' because the exterior looks almost standard apart from some chromed alloy wheels.
But open the doors and you're greeted with a £50,000 interior refit, complete with alligator skin panels in the seats.
If this sounds like you're sort of thing, you'd better be quick because Currency is only building 10 cars and they cost around £175,000 apiece.
