The 911 GT3 RS looks even wilder with Manthey Racing bits

Turbofan wheels make everything look better, don’t they?

Published: 13 Aug 2020

Remember Manthey Racing? You should do. They’re the German motorsport team who tweaked the 911 GT2 RS when Porsche needed to steal back its title of quickest road legal car around the Nürburgring, having been beaten by Lamborghini and the Aventador SVJ.

Porsche is actually the majority owner of Manthey these days too, and the company runs two 911 RSRs in the World Endurance Championship as Porsche’s factory team. Once again though, Manthey has turned its hand to road cars – just check out the pictures of the 911 GT3 RS MR above. What a thing.

As the name suggests, this is Manthey’s take on the 991.2 generation GT3 RS. Upgrades include a set of three- and four-way adjustable KW coilovers, a comprehensive brake upgrade and a set of rather lovely magnesium wheels.

You’ll also have noticed the aero package. There are small carbon fibre elements everywhere, but the monstrous rear wing is the real party piece. The best bit, though, is surely those carbon turbofan wheels. Excellent stuff.

There are no changes to the engine, but the RS’s 513bhp 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat six should be sufficient for most. If you’re still desperate for more power, the 992-generation GT3 RS should be along soon. No doubt Manthey will get its hands on that one too…
