The 818bhp Shelby Super Snake Mustang is UK bound, yours from £220k
Modified Mustang heads across the pond wearing a big engine and a big price tag
The new range-topping Mustang from Shelby American has gone on sale in the UK. Welcome then, to the still amusingly-named 2024 Super Snake that gets a massive 818bhp to go with its equally massive price of £220,000.
Like the Super Snakes that came before it, the modified S650 features a 3.0-litre Whipple supercharger... with a 5.0-litre V8 attached to it. Improvements to this year’s iteration include further concessions to lightweighting; stuff like an aluminium bonnet, a set of magnesium wheels and a carbon-fibre rear wing. Shelby American says this makes for more agile handling.
We’re also told the new Super Snake has better suspension, better cooling, bigger brakes and a new Borla exhaust for improved air flow and, no doubt, a naughtier noise. Because it wasn't going to be worse, right.
Customers can opt for their Super Snake in left- or right-hand drive, as a fastback or convertible. It sits on 20in uniquely forged rims, and of course, there’s the choice of transmission. Opt for the manual, and you'll get a short-shift gearlever, too.
Shelby tells us it’s only building 250 of them which partly explains the quarter of a mil price tag. UK dealer Clive Sutton will be your port of call for the limited numbers leaving the US. Orders arrive in early 2025, but it is worth noting that price includes all taxes, import duties and a three-year warranty. Interested?
