This is a $350k, 640bhp restomod Chevrolet Bel Air

North Carolina-based Retro Designs fits a first-gen Bel Air with a supercharged 6.2-litre V8. Naturally

As restomods go, this is a fairly thorough one. It’s the work of North Carolina-based shop Retro Designs and its boss Daniel Valjevac, and what you’re looking is essentially a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air coupe with a giant LT4 6.2-litre supercharged V8 under the monstrous bonnet.

Power stands at 640bhp thanks to a custom cold air intake and a host of other engine upgrades, which should be plenty in your 1950s Chevy. Thankfully the whole thing sits on a custom Scott's Hotrods chassis, and there’s a GM-sourced eight-speed auto gearbox plus Wilwood brakes and modern wheels/tyres.

There’s a fair amount of chrome of course, and you may have noticed that it’s sitting rather low. That’s because there’s air ride suspension and a custom-made oval exhaust to clear the tarmac.

Retro Designs says the restoration took ‘thousands of hours’, and the price certainly reflects that. We’ll come straight out with it – it’s $350,000. Worth it, Internet?
