1,000bhp Escalade whups GT-R

Versus games keep men alive and happy. The adversarial nature of pitting two unlikely warriors against one another has fascinated the world's most unproductive minds. And now we have two new entrants to vacillate over: step forward Cadillac Escalade and Nissan GT-R.

One is a pumped-up, hardcore, shouty, techy and super-fast feat of precise engineering; the other is a rapper's delight. But John Hennessey is a man who can make elephants dance on their tails, so he has upped the Escalade's power. Significantly.

His HPE1000 twin-turbo Escalade gets, as you've guessed, two turbos and a range of tuning equipment strong enough to haul the 2,700kg SUV at a fair lick. Or into orbit. 1,000bhp, thank you very much.

0-60mph takes 3.3 seconds and it'll hit the quarter-mile in 11.3 seconds at 124mph. Watch it (fractionally) beat a Nissan GT-R. Yes, it does matter, ok?
