Mini news - Mini GP gears up for Geneva - 2006

Published: 20 Feb 2006

The last time a Mini made such big news on the Continent they were swiping gold bullion.

This time it's the Mini GP, complete with 218bhp and a 146mph top speed, that will be stealing the show.

Geneva is the first public outing of the Mini GP, which will go on sale in July.

Of the 2,000 Mini GPs to be built, 444 will come to the UK with an estimated price tag of £22,000.

With 40kg less weight, thanks to a stripped interior and an extra 8bhp compared with a standard Works Cooper S, the GP sees off 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.

Included in the price is a limited slip differential, Recaro sports seats and Dynamic Stability Control.

Buyers will have no say in colour choice because all Mini GPs will be blue with a silver roof and red door mirrors.
