Mercedes' model transporter is the ultimate toy for big kids

Next up on the list of things we want but can’t quite work out why…

Published: 31 Jan 2019

It’s that age-old problem. You’ve got six 1:18 scale model Mercedes’ and no way of moving them all at the same time – what are you going to do?

Well, after a reported 10 months in development, the Germans have solved your quandary with this – the Actros GigaSpace tractor unit and semitrailer transporter.

Mercedes claims that it’s the first ever model car transporter of this size – an upgrade on the usual format of 1:50 – and all together it measures over a metre in length.

With roof-mounted spotlights, a full interior and replicas of the new wing-mirror cameras on the Actros cab there’s plenty of detail to fawn over up front, whilst the transporter trailer is made from 500 individual components and held together with 225 screws and pins.

The only catch? A fully-loaded transporter with six different Mercedes models (including awesome-looking mini versions of the AMG GT 4-door and E63 saloon) will set you back over €1000. Ouch.
