The manual Toyota GR86 will cost less than £30k in the UK
Hurrah! Toyota announces pricing for its new sports car, and it’s cheaper than a GR Yaris
Toyota has announced UK prices for the upcoming GR86, and somehow we’re now even more excited about the existence of a new, boxer-engined, rear-wheel drive sports car.
That’s because there’ll be just one trim level available when orders finally open, and with a six-speed manual gearbox it’ll cost £29,995. Yep, it’s the new entry-level Gazoo Racing road car, with the all-wheel drive GR Yaris starting at £31,170 and the Supra sitting at the top of the range with a hefty £47,505 price tag if you spec the 2.0-litre four-pot.
This is great news. Plus, Toyota has announced a rather enticing PCP offer for those that get in there quick. First customers will apparently be able to nab a manual GR86 for £299 per month with £4,777 down as a deposit. Worth remembering that the GR86 will only be on sale in Europe for two years thanks to impending emissions regulations.
There is an automatic option which Toyota says will cost £32,085, but it’s the three-pedal you really want, isn’t it? All UK-spec GR86s will get 18-inch wheels, an eight-inch Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-equipped touchscreen, LED headlights, heated front seats and cruise control. Luxury.
There’s also the small matter of that new 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated boxer, which ups power to 231bhp and torque to 184lb ft. Click these blue words to see what we thought after a drive in a Euro-spec prototype.
