Lotus styled by Roger Daltrey for sale

Published: 28 Nov 2011

Roger Daltrey - rock god, friend of Top Gear and someone not fond of sausages - has designed a Lotus Evora to be auctioned off for charity this week.

The Who's formidable frontman is the creative nous behind the mid-engined sportscar you see above, set to cross the blocks at Bonham's December sale at Mercedes-Benz world on Thursday 1 December. All proceeds are going to the Teenage Cancer Trust, of which Roger is a patron.

This particular Evora, a hand-built one-off, features The Who roundels on the seat headrests, Union Jack flags on the seat backs, badges on the exterior and hand-painted graphics including Roger's signature.

Special cost-options have been thrown in for hearty measure too, including forged alloy wheels, Lotus's Tech and Premium packs, a reversing camera, metallic paint and the IPS six-speed gearbox. Oh, and a 345bhp 3.5-litre V6 engine, replete with a supercharger.

"Without teenagers and their energy and passion for music, we wouldn't have Rock 'n Roll as we know it," says Daltrey, bravely evading the predictable ‘Kids Are Alright' joke. "There is no doubt in my mind that we're really making a difference."

It's expected to go for around £70,000 later this week. What do you think of the Daltrevora, TopGear.com? Surefire smash hit or an experimental mash-up too far?
