Lots of lovely old Le Mans cars, a new Ford Kuga and many reviews

  • Gallery: are you ready for London’s 2019 supercar season?

"It’s time to *record scratch* rewind and take it back to the old-school. See, having spent the last few years swanning around the world shooting the best supercars on the streets of California, Japan and Monaco, you may think that Alex Penfold would have gone full tilt diva and forgotten about his roots. But you’d be wrong. He still skulks around England’s capital to seek out the finest cars on our fine city’s streets. And he’s still very good at it."

  • Progress Report: 2007 Audi R8 vs 2019 Audi R8

"If you’re a massive Top Gear nerd, you might have already spotted this is a special Audi R8. It’s a 2007 R8 4.2 V8 FSI manual. The quintessential original R8. And OY07 MHL is the very car you saw on the television, 12 whole years ago, being power tested by one Jeremy Clarkson, in a terrible cream blazer. Okay, it narrowly lost a drag race to the Porsche 911 Carrera S, but you’ve rarely seen a machine go to the Top Gear test track and leave with higher praise."

  • Audi’s building a self-driving city car concept

"It’s called the AI:me, because of course. Audi hasn’t told us anything else about this 'vision of an automated driving compact car for the megacities of tomorrow', but make no mistake it’ll probably be an electric concept."

  • Hyundai should totally build this N Roadster

"The renders up top are the work of Korean designer Yeonjoon Park. Shared by the N Division’s official Australian Facebook page on April 1st, it’s an entirely speculative take on what a two-seat, rear-drive Hyundai roadster might look like."

  • The Ford Fiesta and Focus are going hybrid

"The Ford Fiesta and Focus are going hybrid. Well, kinda. Ford is giving them both the option of mild hybrid technology from 2020 as it aims to 'bring the benefits of electrification to greater numbers of consumers'. Slapping it onto two of Britain’s best selling cars will certainly do that."

  • This is the brand new Ford Kuga

"They promise us it’ll be about the best of the mid-size crossovers to drive. It has a good chance, given it’s got a lot of new-Focus in the mix. But we won’t know for ourselves until closer to the on-sale date. Currently Ford is unsure of quite when that will be, but they expect November this year or January 2020."

  • Volkswagen’s full-size electric SUV concept is called ID ROOMZZ

"A homage to The Internet’s so-bad-its-bad-but-funny The Room movie? A typo? Neither, sadly. Volkswagen has revealed the name and a very teasery teaser pic of its upcoming Big Electric SUV concept. It is called the ID ROOMZZ. Yes, that really is two zeds. ROOMZZ."

  • Review: BMW 7 Series

"A world-class limo, spoiled by a few frustrating details. At least when you’re inside you don’t have to look at that face."

  • BMW’s biggest engine - the V12 - is safe until 2023

"AMG has announced today’s generation of V12-engined S-Class saloons will be its last. There’s no 12-cylinder Audi A8 in the UK, and heck, the only Jaguar XJ left on sale is a turbodiesel. So, you’d be forgiven for presuming that BMW would be quietly killing off its own V12 limo. You’d imagine that the M760Li was about to be tucked up in the big German uber-saloon retirement home in the sky."

  • It's the new 2020 Ford Puma!*

"It’s another small Ford crossover. We tell you that first, because if we’d begun by saying Ford is bringing back the Puma name, you might have got too excited. But no, the new Puma isn’t a fun-packed little coupe. An addition to the crossover hordes then…"

  • Mick Schumacher did his father proud in a Ferrari F1 car

"A poignant moment for F1 fans, this. The son of Michael Schumacher - F1’s most decorated driver - has driven a fully-fledged F1 car for the first time. And fittingly, it was a Ferrari, the team which Mick Schumacher’s dad won five of his seven world titles, from 1999-2004."

  • Here’s a better look at McLaren’s new grand-touring supercar

"What we can see is that there are enormous air intakes directing a draught to a V8 that lies behind the seats. Seats numbering two – there’s not a three-seat Speedtail layout. But we are promised a more luxurious-than-usual cabin. And enough room in the boot for skis."

  • Review: Mercedes-Benz E Class All-Terrain

"It’s not revolutionary, but in refocusing the dynamics to deliver a more relaxed driving experience, the All-Terrain is the most compelling E-Class estate out there."

  • Toyota is sharing its EV secrets for free

"As a general rule, car companies are extremely secretive about their technological developments. Anything that could provide a USP or give an edge over the competition is kept under lock and key – being guarded more fervently than the recipe for Coca-Cola. However, Toyota has now offered royalty-free licences on almost 24,000 of its electric vehicle patents."
