Lamborghini news - Now that’s an art car - 2009
Fancy an immaculate, lightweight Lamborghini Countach for just £40,000? It's all yours, so long as you can put up with the breeze. And the lack of engine. Or, indeed, car.
This is, undoubtedly, our favourite piece of art of 2010 thus far: a wire-frame Countach created by London architect Benedict Radcliffe. Built from steel rods and more than 160ft of bright orange wire, it took five months to build and now, after a tour of Central London, it's up for sale for the perhaps-bargain price of £40k.
"It is an iconic car and people are intrigued by the idea of turning something so fast into a wireframe model that goes nowhere," says Radcliffe. "When people saw it on the streets of London they jumped all over it and got inside. I was astonished because they would not treat a real car in that way."
Damn you, you clambering rapscallions! Don't treat this work of art with such disrespect! If you fancy bashing up an art car, you're free to take a swing at any of the boys' creations from Episode 5...
