There are two very distinct sides to the Los Angeles Motor Show.
On the one hand, you have the new Porsche Macan and the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, the new Mini and Mercedes GLA AMG. On the other you have Maria Sharapova, Usain Bolt, a truckload of trucks, and a 500bhp bespoke ‘thing' called the Youabian Puma. Welcome to downtown LA.
For every new Audi A3 saloon US model offensive, there's a pink Lamborghini. And a truck. For every new Subaru Legacy Concept and WRX, there's a Fiat 500 with a flared arch bodykit and a roof rack. And some more trucks.
To steer you round the newness and the oddness, here's Top Gear's rough guide to the Los Angeles Motor Show. Warning: contains Sharapova. And trucks.

It's also got a 7.0-litre V8 producing 505bhp (that'll be Chevy's V8, then), a 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds, 44-inch tyres and 20-inch chrome wheels. Holy mother of God.
Camaro Z28 does the ‘snow plough'. It's not what you think. Just look at that splitter.

Mercedes SLS bows out with the ‘Final Edition'. Rear tyres breathe a momentary sigh of relief.
Stare too long at this thing, and it'll punch you in the NARDS. But we still want this AMG Vision GT concept to go into production.

Porsche is very keen to point out that yes, while it's busy with its new Macan, it's also found time to whip up something called a ‘918 Spyder'...
It's the Ford Transit Hot Wheels Truck! Widebody kit, gullwing doors, dual side exhausts, and that custom paint finish. Imagine the respect fellow Transit drivers will accord you!

One of just 252 Mustang Shelby GT350s built to span the production gap between 1965 and 1966. 306bhp, a heavy duty Ford rear axle and that iconic paintjob. Magic.
Mitsubishi's MiEV Evo II Pikes Peak challenger made a guest appearance in LA, too.
It's another truckin' truck. This one's a Dodge Ram 2500 ‘Longhorn'. Ahem. Also available with a 6.4-litre Hemi producing 410bhp.
Factory original 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 426 Hemi under the bonnet. It's orange.
It's friend of TG and capable jogger Usain Bolt! And someone we don't really know.
The Galpin Auto Sports GTR1: a 1,000bhp, 225mph supercar built by chaps who run MTV's Pimp My Ride. It's based on the Ford GT, with a pair of turbos in place of the 5.4-litre V8's supercharger. Will cost you over $1 million.
Monster hot rod is really quite low.
First generation BMW Z4 gets ready for Britain's snowy winter period. Wait, no, it's just got a MASSIVE front apron.
Remember Liberty Walk's modified 458 Italia? This is it. You decided whether you like it or not?
Galpin's Ford Mach 4, because three V8s are never nearly enough, this one gets four. FOUR V8 engines, putting out an estimated 3,000bhp. Expect flight. Or fire.
Hmmm, we rather liked the Icon Bronco, but in Gulf Colours? Not sure it works.
Fiat 500 gets flared arches and a roof rack.
Another tuner entrant from Galpin, this one called the ‘Back Up' truck. Quite simply, it's a truck with the cab reversed, so you drive with the flatbed in front, not behind.
It's the Lexus LF-LC concept that inspired the new RC Coupe. We hear there's a production Lexus even closer to this concept coming soon. Good.
It's Maria Sharapova and the Porsche Macan! No, the Macan isn't a tiny matchbox model, Sharapova is just that tall.
